Application of Coal Mine Monitoring Systems

Currently, in China's coal mine production, safety remains a critical concern. Coal mine monitoring systems have evolved from monitoring single parameters with small capacities to centralized monitoring, remote control, simple logic control, and data mining utilization. Through continuous technological improvements and promotion, these systems provide more reliable technical guarantees for safe production. However, some problems still exist in practical applications; therefore, it is necessary to analyze the problems in coal mine monitoring systems and take corresponding measures to solve them.

Through continuous technological improvements and promotion, they provide more reliable technical guarantees for safe production. However, some problems still exist in practical applications; therefore, it is necessary to analyze the problems in coal mine monitoring systems and take corresponding measures to solve them.
Problems Existing in Coal Mine Monitoring Systems:
1. Problems with the Monitoring System Itself
Problems with the coal mine monitoring system itself are mainly caused by manufacturers and include the following aspects:
a) Many coal mine monitoring system manufacturers are short-sighted and have outdated design concepts, with various monitoring technologies stagnating.
b) Hardware products have serious quality and safety issues. For example, equipment lacks fault interlocks and power-off functions, sensors have poor performance and short lifespans, cannot effectively perform remote power outages, have inadequate lightning protection facilities, wind speed sensors cannot effectively sense the wind speed at various ventilation points underground, the substation power supply time does not meet standards after a sudden power outage, the system has poor anti-interference performance, and poor usability.
c) Serious problems exist in the software system. Coal mine monitoring systems have poor stability, slow response speeds, and low monitoring quality. Each monitoring system lacks standardized communication and physical layer protocols, and there is no unified software system for various monitoring systems. Due to different software programming methods, use and upgrades are inconvenient. In the development of monitoring systems, many developments are only targeted at specific objects, so the developed monitoring systems usually have poor hardware versatility, poor software compatibility, and cannot be shared. In the design of sensor components, many are also only used for the design of specific sensing components, making it difficult to connect different sensing components to the same circuit, unable to monitor multiple parameters simultaneously, and resulting in low information utilization.
2. Problems in the Application of Coal Mine Monitoring Systems
a) Management personnel have a weak awareness of safety production and cannot fully understand the importance of coal mine monitoring systems.
b) There is a lack of high-level and highly qualified monitoring and technical personnel. In coal mine monitoring systems, many monitoring personnel do not meet the required educational background. Personnel in the underground monitoring room lack professional knowledge and the necessary sense of responsibility, while underground monitoring personnel lack strong personal qualities and technical skills.
c) Inadequate daily management and maintenance. Coal mine monitoring systems are not strictly reviewed, and the sensors equipped with the monitoring system have poor performance and insufficient quantity. Daily management is not taken seriously, and there is a lack of specialized institutions and personnel responsible for managing monitoring systems. Existing monitoring and control systems are not strictly enforced, there is a lack of effective assessment standards for monitoring management, the monitoring information processing reporting system is not sound, there are no perfect safety protection measures, the safety products used have not passed explosion-proof product joint inspection, and equipment debugging and maintenance are not timely.
